Tax Resources

Where's My Refund?

On average, the Federal and State governments take 2-4 weeks to process returns.  While this is not a guarantee, in our experience this is the general timeframe.  To help you track the status of your refund, both the Federal and State governments provide online tools which you can find here:

These resources can give you the most up-to-date information on your refund status. If you would like to check the refund status for a state other than California, please search for the Where’s My Refund feature on the tax agency website for each applicable state.

Where Do I Make Payments?

If your return results in taxes due, or if you need to make estimated payments, you can submit digital payments directly with the tax agencies. Links to the IRS and California (FTB) websites are provided below. NOTE: The IRS will require digital payments beginning with the 2026 tax year.:

Payments to other states can be made directly with the tax agency for each state.

What Should I Know If I'm Self-Employed?

Congratulations on starting your own business!  There are many tax-related considerations for self-employed individuals.  As an HSC client, we guide you through the steps in the process.  A great primer for our conversation is the self-employment guide from the IRS which you can read RIGHT HERE at IRS.gov.

How Do I Find My IRS Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)?

An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is a unique six-digit number known only to you and the IRS.  It helps prevent the misuse of your Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on fraudulent federal income tax returns.

Where's My 1095-A?

If you purchase your healthcare through Covered California, you'll receive a 1095-A form, which is required to file your tax return. You can find form at one of the two websites below:
